Fail Forward

Face the fact—you are going to fail at times, if you are trying your best to succeed. So, free yourself from the self-limiting shackles of perfection and go after what you want. Don’t be afraid of failure, it’s an essential part of life and can be one of your greatest teachers. If you’re adventurous, you will experience many failures and become better for each one of them. Here are four great tips for failing forward successfully:

    1. Accept it – the hardest part of failing is admitting to yourself that you failed. Acceptance makes it easier to move forward and discover what is next.
    2. Let go of regrets – life is too short to live with regret. Take risks and go after what you want. Sure, you may fail, but without risk there is no reward.
    3. Don’t be a victim – when something you try doesn’t work, don’t sit around feeling sorry for yourself. Give yourself some reasonable time to grieve any loses and examine where you went wrong, then regroup and climb back into the arena.
    4. Approach every situation as a learning opportunity – there is a great lesson to be had in every great failure. Be open to what you can do to learn from it—the faster and harder you fail, the stronger and smarter you will become.
